Presidential candidates and their supporters turned their attention to Georgia in the past week, discussing policies related to gender in a series of campaign events. Former President Donald Trump participated in a town hall focused on women’s issues, while Vice President Kamala Harris received high-profile support from actress Julia Roberts at rallies emphasizing reproductive rights.
Trump appeared at a Fox News town hall in Forsyth County on Tuesday. The event, hosted by Harris Faulkner, was held at the Reid Barn in Cumming, with an audience composed entirely of women. The pre-recorded town hall aired on “The Faulkner Focus” the following day at 11 a.m. Topics addressed include childcare, abortion, the economy, and Trump’s evolving stance on issues that impact female voters.
This appearance came at a critical moment, coinciding with the beginning of early voting in Georgia. Trump, who has already visited the state multiple times this month, is aiming to close the significant gender gap among voters, with recent polls showing sharp divides in support between male and female voters. He currently leads Harris among male voters, while Harris maintains an advantage with women.
Fox News has extended an invitation to Harris to participate in a similar town hall, although her campaign has not yet confirmed any participation.
Meanwhile, Julia Roberts actively campaigned on behalf of Harris, headlining several events across Georgia. Roberts, a Georgia native, emphasized reproductive rights in a speech delivered in Canton and later joined other Harris supporters, including Doug Emhoff and Sen. Raphael Warnock, at a rally in Atlanta.
In her remarks, Roberts encouraged both men and women to engage in open conversations about the issues shaping the election. She urged attendees to speak with voters of differing views, emphasizing unity and the importance of respectful dialogue. Roberts’ efforts are part of Harris’s campaign strategy to bolster support in Georgia, a key battleground state.
Georgia voters now face a pivotal choice, with candidates vying for support across deeply divided demographics. Both campaigns are making strategic efforts to address gender-related concerns and attract undecided voters as the election draws closer.
