Vice President Kamala Harris – the presumptive Democratic nominee – announced she will return to Georgia on Friday, August 9th. Harris will be stopping in Savannah that day but no further details on her visit have been released. Harris’s visit to Savannah is just one stop in her four day long battleground tour which includes visits to seven different swing states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia.
Harris started laying the groundwork for her campaign with a rally in Atlanta this past Tuesday, July 30th. That evening, thousands gathered at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center to support her candidacy. Special guest included Grammy-winning Rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The event marked her first appearance in Georgia as the presumptive nominee.
Unlike her July 30th event, Harris’s stop in Savannah will include her running mate. According a press release from earlier this week. Harris has yet to chose who that will be. Several names have been floated as possible contenders. While Georgia’s own Senator Raphael Warnock was initially floated as a possibility, Harris’s decision to kick off her battleground tour next Tuesday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has many speculating that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will be her choice.
Harris has stated next Tuesday’s even will include her vice presidential nominee.
