Vice President Kamala Harris was originally scheduled to visit Savannah today along with her new running mate Governor Tim Walz. Hurricane Debby derailed these plans. The Harris campaign announced earlier this week that they would reschedule the visit for another time. The storm dropped almost 14 inches of rain on some parts of Chatham County as it moved up the Georgia coast.
The Harris campaign had scheduled this visit prior to Harris selecting her running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Earlier this week, Harris chose the Minnesota Governor to be the Vice Presidential nominee from the Democratic Party.
Prior to the selection, the Harris Campaign announced that the Vice President and her chosen running mate would embark on a tour of key battleground states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia.
The Campaign has not announced a new date for the visit to Georgia.
