The Georgia House approved legislation on Tuesday requiring equal treatment of political clubs in public schools, passing the measure 95-68 along party lines on Day 39 of the 40-day legislative session.
SB 552, known as the True Patriotism and Universal Student Access Act, or TPUSA Act, guarantees that school political organizations receive equal access and treatment regardless of their ideological affiliation. Republicans voted unanimously in favor while Democrats opposed the measure, citing objections related to the bill’s connection to Turning Point USA, the conservative student organization that shares the TPUSA acronym.
Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated last year during a campus event at Utah Valley University.
The bill’s passage came on a busy Day 39 at the Gold Dome, which also saw final passage of House Speaker Jon Burns’ priority legislation, the Georgia Early Literacy Act of 2026.
