Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia will join Texas Senate nominee James Talarico at a high-dollar Los Angeles fundraiser hosted by prominent Hollywood producers as both candidates compete in nationally watched races.
The Sept. 10 event, billed as “Two Visionaries, One Night,” will be hosted by Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Heidi Lindelof, The New York Times reported. Tickets range from $1,000 to $27,000, with the two lowest-priced tiers already sold out. Donations will be divided evenly between the candidates’ separate fundraising committees.
The joint appearance pairs two of the Democratic Party’s strongest fundraisers. Federal Election Commission records show Ossoff’s campaign reported $77.3 million in receipts from Jan. 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and ended the period with $42.6 million cash on hand.
Talarico’s committee reported $68.6 million in receipts from September 2025 through June 30 and $21.5 million available. More than half of his individual contributions came from donors giving less than $200.
Ossoff faces Trump-endorsed Republican Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia. Reuters described Georgia as one of Republicans’ top opportunities to gain a Senate seat, although Ossoff entered the general election with a large financial advantage. Republicans currently hold a 53-47 Senate majority.
Talarico is challenging Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The Associated Press reported Saturday that MAGA Inc., the political group aligned with President Donald Trump, is launching a $10 million advertising campaign in Texas, reflecting Republican concern that a once-safe seat has become competitive.
The Hollywood fundraiser gives both Democrats another opportunity to convert national attention into campaign resources. It illustrates how state contests in Georgia and Texas have become national financial battles with potential consequences for control of the Senate.
