Earlier this month David J. Herring was chosen as the new Chair of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. His tenure will begin on the start of the 2025 fiscal year 2025 which is July 1st.

Herring’s appointment is a significant decision that will influence the operations of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. As the chair, he will be at the helm of the department that grants reprieves, commutations, and pardons to inmates. This leadership role will see him making critical decisions related to the rights and futures of prisoners across the state.

Drawing on his wealth of experience, Herring’s leadership will be key in steering the Board through tricky legal waters. In his capacity as the new chair, he is tasked with supervising other board members and ensuring the smooth running of the organization. His decisions will shape the board’s practices and drive its operational objectives in the coming year.

In a press release issued by the Board, Herring stated, “Thank you for this opportunity. I do not take this opportunity lightly. I appreciate the position that I am being given. I can promise you this, like I have always done, I will serve this board with hard work and integrity whether I am the chairman or not. I sincerely appreciate this opportunity, and thank you very much.”

With the fiscal year 2025 fast approaching, all eyes will be on David J. Herring as he assumes this significant role.
