Republican Rep. Clay Fuller won his first full term representing Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, defeating Democratic challenger Shawn Harris. The Associated Press called the race on Tuesday evening.
Fuller campaigned on strengthening border security, combating fentanyl trafficking and advancing President Donald Trump’s agenda. A former district attorney and Air Force veteran, he emphasized his prosecutorial experience and pledged to work with Trump against drug traffickers operating in northwest Georgia. Harris, a retired Army general and farmer, emphasized lowering household costs, protecting rural health care and improving veterans’ services.
The Cook Political Report rated the district Solid Republican heading into the election. The contest was a rematch of April’s special-election runoff, when Fuller defeated Harris to succeed Marjorie Taylor Greene following her resignation. Fuller’s victory secures a full two-year term beginning in January and keeps the northwest Georgia seat in Republican hands.
